Seed Library

Checkout Process:

1) Visit us: Find the seed library on the second floor of the library at the Burnaby campus, SE14.

2) Choose Your Seeds: Browse the available seeds and select the ones you’d like to grow! Please only take what you need for this season, and no more than 6 seed packets at a time.

3) Borrow Seeds: Sign up as a seed library member by filling a paper form to let us know what seeds you are borrowing. You can hand the paper form in to a staff member at the Service Desk.

4) Enjoy: Take the seeds home with you and plant them (we have a number of books and links on this guide to help).

5) Save & Return: Learn about seed saving and return your harvested seeds or consider donating a packet or two of commercially grown, open pollinated seeds at the end of the season to help restock the Seed Library.

6) Repeat! By borrowing, growing, and returning seeds, you’re helping to propagate successful, local seeds, and sharing your knowledge and harvest with our community!

Post a picture of your garden to facebook or instagram with the hashtag #BCITseeds for a chance to win a prize in September!
