Requesting books or articles from other libraries

If BCIT Library doesn’t have the book or article that you need, we will borrow it from another library. This service is called Interlibrary Loan or ILL and is available at no charge for BCIT students and employees.

Articles take 1-2 days to arrive and will be emailed to you.

Books take approximately two weeks - you will receive an email when the title is here for you to pick up at the Library service desk.

Login and use this online form to make your request:

Visiting other libraries in person

Reciprocal borrowing arrangements have been made with SFU, UBC, and most of the other colleges in the province.

You will have borrowing privileges with some restrictions, such as limiting how many books you can borrow at once.

You will likely have access to their databases onsite but not remotely.

Take your student card and a 2nd piece of photo ID to the circulation counter at the other library.

Other library catalogues

For borrowing items that BCIT Library does not have you can:

  • use your BCIT ID card to borrow from most other post-secondary libraries in the lower mainland OR
  • request an interlibrary loan
