Printing basics

Printing

To print, you need to add funds to your BCIT ID Card using the cash card manager at any of these Burnaby Campus locations:

  • SE14, in the Library foyer near the Service Desk and Level 1 adjacent to the ehPod.      
  • SE2, in the Copy Centre in the Great Hall.      
  • NE1, at the cafeteria entrance.

Print jobs can be accessed from any print station on campus, in NE1, SE6, SE 12, SW3, or SW9.

Burnaby Campus

Pay printing is available from:

  • all general-access labs
  • colour printing is available in the Library on the Main Floor and in the ehPod 

Burnaby Campus Print Release Stations are located in:

Downtown Campus Print Release Stations are located on:

3rd floor  -  in the hallway across from the elevator

4th floor  -  in the hallway across from the elevator

Many of the labs at DTC have private printers which are not part of the BCIT Pay Print system. Check the lab you are in for a printer.

 

Aerospace Technology Campus Print Release Stations are located on:

1st floor - in the Library

2nd floor - in the South Atrium 

 

Marine Campus

Pay printing is not available on the Marine Campus, but all lab users are permitted to use the private printer located in the general-access lab (303).

 

...some useful tips

  • Workstations in the Library are set up to default to the black and white single-sided queue.  Workstations in other labs may default to One Note or the black and white double-sided queue.

 

  • When you release a print job but it does not print, check the paper size of their original document.  Often the problem is that the document has been created and saved with an A4 paper size.  The printer does not support this paper size and discards the print job.  Change the paper size to 8x11 or 8x14 as appropriate.

 

  • If a document from a website will not print directly, try saving it to the desktop and then printing it from there.  This often occurs with google docs.
