The purpose of these guidelines is to provide libraries of varying types, sizes and resources with recommended practices for the provision of accessible and inclusive services. These guidelines shall serve as a resource for strategic planning, policy and service development.

A well-drafted policy identifies how the library intends to accommodate the needs of patrons with disabilities and establish specific procedures for responding to requests in a timely manner.
