Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

During the spring 2021 semester, librarians and instructional designers at W Frank Steely Library at Northern Kentucky University facilitated a series of focused conversations with library personnel centered on introducing ideas of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (IDEA) related to different workflows and functions in our library (collections, hiring/leadership, customer service, and teaching).

The following action items have been undertaken by McGill Library in 2020-2021 or will be developed in 2021-2022 to address anti-Black racism and work in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI).

ACRL is dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive communities in the Association and in academic and research libraries. This core commitment permeates the work of the Association, cutting across all ACRL sections, committees, interest and discussion groups, and communities of practice.

Don't Shush Me! Adventures of a 21st century High School Librarian

The Research Libraries Group (RLG) developed a system of collecting levels intended primarily for the uniform evaluation of collections in research libraries. The use of these collecting levels evolved from a tool for evaluation into a meaningful set of descriptors employed in library collection policy statements.

Out On The Shelves is a non-profit, community library built and cared for by volunteers, librarians, and librarians-in-training who are committed to anti-oppressive social justice work.
Out On The Shelves aims to foster a free, accessible, and safe space for LGBT2QIA+ people and their allies to discover and share stories and resources centering on LGBT2QIA+ experiences. We understand that LGBT2QIA+ people stand at the intersection of multiple communities and identities, and we seek to empower and support them by providing access to materials that reflect their realities.
